I finally got all the latest versions of ftape and ftape-tools to compile and run under Red Hat 6.1. Now I find my old Iomega 3200 slows down the initialization of the floppy controller so much under Windows 98, that I have to shutdown to DOS, and restart just to get it all to function under Windows. Disconnecting the 3200 solves the problem, but leaves me with no tape. That's the last straw for the 3200, so I'm looking to replace it with a Ditto Max external parallel port tape unit I can also use with a laptop when I need to. How much faster can I expect that to be than the 3200 (no accelerator card for the 3200, so I'd guess it runs at 1 Mbs)? Any problems under Linux with ftape and the Ditto Max external? Any other comments? Thanks, Jim
