please get the latest ftape version, which is ftape-4.04a. You can
download it from
http://www.instmath.rwth-aachen.de/~heine/ftape/archives/ftape-4.x/tar/
This package contains the sources for a kernel module. Please make
sure to first recompile you kernel WITHOUT ftape support, otherwise
the separate ftape-4.04a will not work.
Then compile the separate ftape package and try again (following the
instructions of the INSTALL file).
Try again. Post again if the problem persists.
