This is also happening to me, using 1.4.0 in Ubuntu Studio 10.10, with Gnome 2.32 Not only do the icons and tabs keep vanishing, but now the slider marker on the timeline keeps going invisible too. Very annoying, as it makes it almost impossible to know where I am in the timeline if the slider is not there. Icons disappearing is a pain too, as I forget what they are and what I can do.
