Hello,

I have been trying to get my friend's modem working in Linux but
have had no luck so far. The modem is a Best Data 56USB-SP and the
ACM driver "recognises" its there. However, it will not let anything
be written to it or read from it. I tried doing:
  echo "ATA" > /dev/usb/acm/0

and

  cat /dev/usb/acm/0

and

tried pppd and minicom but nothing seems to work. In the messages
log, it says that this device has no driver cliamed to it...or something to
that effect. We're using the 2.4.2 kernel on a VIA Apollo KT133 chipset
with the latest tools listed on the linux-usb
sourceforge page. Also, we're using the non-JE UHCI driver. Any
help would be appreciated. Thanks

I realise this is the devel group not the users group, however
I thought there would be a better chance of getting an answer here.
