As I recall, there were a one or two brown paper bag bugs found in 
the final days of the 2.4.0 development process that could have 
been causing quite a few hard-to-track-down bugs in the USB drivers.
Perhaps this problem was fixed as a result of this more general fix.

Georg, do you know what specific device was failing?  If you can
tell me what the device was, I can try to get one for testing.  On the 
other hand, if you can get this customer to try the most recent uhci
driver, that would be ideal.
