I'd have to disagree with that. I don't know much about USB
(subscribed to wrong list - sorry, but its interesting reading
anyway), but at a guess there are a lot of devices that will need an
unusual device entry. Unfortunately (or maybe not) a lot of people
stick with whatever kernel comes with redhat/corel/mandrake/etc that
they installed, and for them a kernel recompile - or even a module
recompile, is not easy. It is likely that since the distribution has
been released many new devices have come out, some of which will need
the entries, and so IMHO they should be able to add this dynamically.
Probably talking crap here - but take it as a laypersons view.
