Hi All, I've been having this problem for quiet some time but haven't had time to look into it properly. Firstly a quick run down of my system.
Pentium II 350 256 MB RAM All SCSI subsystem (no ide) Asus P2B (BX) mainboard with uhci usb controller It runs the SGI XFS on the file systems on Redhat 7.1. The kernel I'm having problems with is a plain linus kernel with XFS patch. I've had the same problem with all kernels since 2.4.5 + XFS 1.0.1. It currently runs 2.4.2 XFS 1.0.0 from the SGI install disk (with all Redhat patches etc). When I boot the new kernels with APM enabled the kernel oops and the machine totally dies. If I disable APM it oops but not as badly but keeps on booting and I can use it without USB. I have a USB keyboard (Apple Pro), Mouse (MS Intellimouse Explorer) and a Palm m505 (which is why I want to upgrade the kernel). Attached is the dmesg output with the oops in it. And before anyone asks - it does work OK with uhci but RedHat won't auto load it so I have to remote access in to load the driver so I can use the keyboard and mouse or keep a standard keyboard attached so I can do it that way. I'm more than happy to gice any extra info and to try patches etc. Unfortunately I don't have another uhci box without xfs so I can't test to see if that is causing problems (my laptop is ohci).
