Hi,
I'm having problems with my Philips webcam and an OHCI controller (buffer underflow).
The machine freezes rock-solid if I then try to kill -9 the application which is using
the usb/webcam. No OOPS, nothing.
- kernel 2.4.13 (problem has been there as long as I remember 2.4.9 is the earliest I
checked)
- Pentium 100, Intel FX-chipset motherboard
- PCI OHCI controller, 2 ports: "i/o CARD-USB", with OPTi 82C861 chip
- Philips PCVC675K (Vesta) USB webcam
- video capture software is 'motion' (http://motion.technolust.cx)
The webcam works fine on a Celeron-667 on a Via chipset motherboard (AOpen AX63Pro),
with UHCI onboard. I previously wrote to Nemosoft (the writer of the Philips Webcam,
pwc, driver) and he suggested it might be an OHCI problem, that's what brings me to
this.
I've compiled in as many debugging features as I possibly could (in pwc and ohci) and
attached the messages file, zipped. Things go wrong around when the driver reports
"pwc Frame buffer underflow", some way down the file.
Thanks,
