Far be it from me to spoil the party, but we need a few API changes.
Essentially we need to add a gfp parameter to all API calls.

Then we need to cope with other changes.
The modules API will change.
V4L2 might be introduced.
The serial subsystem might undergo changes.
ALSA might be included.
