Hello.

I have a Sony CD-RW connected to my Toshiba notebook. With kernel version
2.4.10 it works fine with both usb-uhci and uhci, but with kernel versions
2.4.12 through 2.4.16 the uhci module (which I believe is the newer
one) nolonger functions correctly. But the usb-uhci module works fine with
both 2.4.12 and 2.4.16 (haven't tested the versions in between).

When trying to burn a CD (with gtoaster, which in turn uses cdrecord) with
uhci and the affected kernels the data transfer rate is so low that the
burning fails every time. It is my impression that reading is also slower.

If you want me to run further tests just let me know. However, I don't
know much about kernel development so I would appreciate detailed
instructions. I have a USB floppy drive and a digital camera
aswell. Perhaps I can test things using them aswell?

Thanks...

/M
