That would have been my advice :)

I have two on my lab desk. They are based on the NEC chipset that have
apparently been recalled. I don't know what the failure mode(s) is(are), but I
recall being told that it was a descriptor enumeration problem. AFAICT, mine
are enumerating fine - certainly a lot more reliably than the early cypress
chips.

I haven't checked if they are still available, but I'd be willing to buy one
or two and send them (or send the ones I have), perhaps minus the power
supply, to developers who can use them. Johannes?
