Hi,
as we have discussed there's a problem with devices
that need their firmware reloaded on resume.
If they are used for paging out, memory allocation can
deadlock. Therefore the simple solution of running a shell
script on resume won't work.
The recent discussion has convinced me that this problem
not only affects a few storage devices, but also everything
that might be used for nfs. This means serial devices, modems
and network adaptors.
IMHO the space wasted and impact on the power management
demons is so large, that it'd be a waste of memory.
Thus I'd suggest that firmware download not be moved to
user space, but be centralised.
Regards
Oliver
