Found on http://www.hexus.net: ------------- USB2.0 to ship on Intel and VIA Southbridges in 2002 Posted on Tuesday, January 1, 2002 by Ryszard
An email from a highly trusted source landed in my Inbox with a couple of tasty tidbits of information regarding chipsets in 2002. Firstly, Intel are launching a new southbridge in Q2 this year supporting USB2.0 called the ICH4. Secondly, VIA are close to announcing and releasing a new Southbridge, the V8235, also supporting USB2.0. It seems that USB2.0 is set to be the dominant standard for high speed peripheral connection in the coming year. Hopefully both implementations will offer native support for 6 ports and manufacturers will take advantage and ship 4-port backplanes. My source notes that since it becomes effectively free to implement without the need for an external processor, it will make its way onto a large majority of boards. ------------- VIA has a webpage describing their add-on PCI controller too. http://www.via.com.tw/en/Communications/USB2.jsp Just FYI. - Dave _______________________________________________ [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe, use the last form field at: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/linux-usb-devel
