Environment: linux-mandrake 8.1 on Intel Pentium III machine with 2.4.17
              kernel, using devfs;
              SanDisk SDDR-31 compactflash USB adapter (no other USB devices.)

When using the usb-uhci module, an attempt to "rmmod usb-uhci" causes the
machine to hang; hardware reset is required to reboot. This hang occurs
regardless of whether CF media is present in the adapter. That is:

   Boot with no CF card in adapter: rmmod usb-uhci => hang
   Boot with CF card in adapter: rmmod usb-uhci => hang

A CF card, when present, can be mounted and read, but that does not
change the situation with respect to the hang.

When using the uhci module, this hang does not occur.

Curiously, the read data rate using uhci is less than one-tenth the data rate
using usb-uhci (63,000 bytes per second vs. 742,000 bytes per second.)

I should welcome suggestions about how the usb-uhci hang might be fixed,
or how the data transfer rate using the uhci module can be made
comparable to the rate exhibited by usb-uhci.
