These are the same kinds of problems I was having using windows98. My device
would not respond, or windows would GPF, hang. The biggest problem I had
with win98 was that the very moment I installed the usbsnoop.sys driver into
windows32, nothing under USB would work.
However, moving forward with your problem, two things spring to mind.
1. Try it on win2k (Assuming you've got the s/w).
2. Check out usbsnoopy http://usbsnoop.sourceforge.net
The usbsnoop software is based on usbsniff but instead of writing to
dbgview.exe it writes to \windows\snoop.log. I could never get it to work
under w98 (same problems as above) but if you can get it to work, it may
resolve any timing issues.
