I have been testing my very old HP8200e cd-rw usb-drive with several recent linux 2.4 kernel versions without success. I remember vaquely, that the last time this drive has been working without problems under linux was with kernel versions <2.4.10 or such. The last crash happened with kernel version 2.4.18-pre4 with the ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/gregkh/usb/2.4/usb-storage-2.4.18-pre4.patch. The error message below can be re-produced by using xcdroast & cdrecord to read any disk into iso-image. kernel: 2.4.18-pre4 with and without the above mentioned patch compiler: gcc-2.96-85 I'd be very much willing to test any possible patches to try to fix this crash ...
