Has anyone tried any of the mpeg2 capture devices yet on linux? I'm trying to decide between one of those and a 1394 capture device. The latter is guaranteed to work w/ linux, but dv format would need to be transcoded for compact storage & I'm not sure whether my notebook can transcode dv to mpeg2 in realtime (1GHz mobile-p3).
OTOH, I presume the usb devices would require a custom driver.
