Could you send me relevant parts of your config (for
sound I guess)?

I suspect it would be a Good Thing, and might turn up
a few issues (do they expect sound devices to appear
and disappear dynamically?) in the ALSA design ... but
it's not supposed to be necessary if OSS (or compat)
are working.

For me, they're not working: I either get link errors
because of missing pcm functions (compat) or
because of the bogus DMA mappings.
