I bought a Q-Link IDE USB 1 enclosure and plugged it into my box
(kernel 2.4.18), but it gives errors and cannot be opened. The kernel
then blocks and cannot shutdown cleanly.

The only chip on the board in the enclosure is manufactured by
"Cypress".

Anyway, here's the contents of /proc/bus/usb/devices when it's plugged
in, then /proc/scsi/scsi, then /proc/scsi/usb-storage-0/0, and finally
followed by a syslog extract of plugging the thing in.

I hope it makes more sense to somebody than to me :)

I'm busy compiling up a newer 2.4.x kernel to try.

Kenny.
