> Andries, what kind of USB problems did you have with 2.5.16?

I hoped that everybody would have problems, so that the source
of the problems would be immediately obvious to someone who
knows USB and the recent changes better.

I have only vague reports.

Do "insmod usb-storage". The insmod hangs.
With earlier kernel versions I often saw a stalled pipe,
but that was never fatal. But now it was.

Once I caused a kernel reboot by disconnecting a USB device.

I tried a USB keyboard, and it was fine.
The problems were only with usb-storage.

First I blamed my patch, but a vanilla 2.5.16 exhibits
identical behaviour. More precisely, I tried three UHCI
drivers, and two showed the same behaviour, and the third
did not compile.

So, if nobody else immediately recognizes the problem
I must wait until there is some time and then go slowly
through the changes between 2.5.14, that works, and
2.5.16, that doesn't work.

Maybe this evening. More likely, next weekend.

Andries

Is it documented someplace what requirements a driver
should obey? It feels as if several usb-storage things
are not in a perfect shape. But I know so little about
the surroundings.
