No, it does NOT happen on VIA, only on the i830.  However, the VIA has
a Athlon 650, while the i830m has a P3-1000.  So the underlying hardware
configurations are radically different.

Again, the crash only happens if the device is plugged into the root hub
-- using another hub works fine, as does the 'uhci-alt' driver.

I can't tell you if it ever worked, but from the reports I've seen it
crashes with a lot of people with a lot of differnet kernel revisions.
