Hello,
I'm having a problem with some hardware and I think it is a bug. Here
is the senario. I have two machines, on has a UHCI usb controller on
the mobo, and the other machie is a OHCI based (SIS). I also have a
LinkSys 10/100 ethernet (obviously usb...). It works fine in the UHCI
based machine. Pings, downloading, all the regular web/network stuff I
can throw at it. When I try to use in on the OHCI I have some seriously
buggy behavior. Here are some of the things that happen, in order of
decreasing occurance. This mainly happens during downloading, but
trying to get a simple directory listing in the links browser (I have
NO gui on the OHCI machine so everything is terminal/text based).
1) "Rx status -84" - scrolls incessantly down my screen. This is being
called from the bulk_read_callback function in the rlt8150.c file.
interspersed within those messages is sometimes the message
2) "reset needed may be?.." which is always spewed on the screen when I
disconnect the device from the usb bus.
3) System hard reboots - this is wierd, and has happened only 3 times,
but I'll start something like ping apple.com or using links/lynx to go
somewhere, screen blanks, and I get the BIOS screen and it's starting
back up.
3) Kernel Panic - This is even more rare, I think mainly with kernel
2.5.33 with the preemptive stuff included.
I've never programmed a kernel driver, I've been looking at the Oreilly
book about it so I can help. I would like to know what to do next, or
wondering what information anyone needs more.
