I decided to take the leap. The device is seen as a usb-storage device in "DV
DISK" mode (but shows it as 8MB, although it has 128MB internal memory), and
as an unknown device in "LIVE" mode. So far, I've been unable to mount is as
disk in Linux, (keeps throwing I/O errors) but I'm going to keep poking at
it. If this works out, it's going to be a hot little gadget. I managed to
bring up the first test video I recorded on my room mate's XP system (showed
it as a usb drive, but also mistakenly showed it as 8MB), and the quality was
quite good for a device of this size. I'm no programmer, but I'll help anyone
who wants to work on this device in any way I can. My room mate has an XP box
and I'm sure he will have no objections to letting me drop some USB sniffing
software on it if needed for research. Please see the attached log snippets
for info on device ID's, etc.

Thanks in advance to anyone who wants to take a crack at this!

Just saw this one in Best Buy yesterday ($129USD). I know the original
PocketDV isn't supported, but this one looks like it would act like a USB CF
reader. It claims to be able to record 80-120 mins of video with sound on a
512MB CF card, and isn't much bigger than the older PocketDV that only did 3
mins. I'm thinking of getting one and testing it out, and was wondering if
anyone else had tried it out yet. If not, I might just take the leap. Thanks
in advance for any info anyone has on this new toy. :)
