did you have any success in using the extra buttons of the MX700
under X (XFree)?
I can see only 7 of the 10 buttons as X events and my xmodmap remaps
only five, so currently I use it like an ordinary wheel mouse.
I can see distinct button events for all buttons in /dev/input/event0,
but I don't know how/whether that can be used in X, I didn't find a driver.
I also have an MX500 (non-radio version) that should be similar.

PS: Another feature visible under MS-Windows is reconnecting and
the selected radio channel.
