Dear Johan, I am sorry to hear that you will no longer be maintaining the speedtouch driver. It may have been your
first linux kernel driver, and it may have had a few bugs, but it has done good service to me and others. I am willing
to try and maintain the driver. While I don't have the competance of many on this list, I do actually have the modem and
an adsl line, which is a big advantage.
It is. If the current linux-usb delepment core agrees, you are hereby the new maintainer.
The only source of bugs I think you will find are in usb and atm interface compliance. It was always a bit of guess work.
As was the recently fixed thread code which came from one of the hub driver incarnations IIRC.

It would be very helpful to have the specs though. I hear that Thomson
multimedia bought Alcatel's modem branch. Do you have any contacts there? What do you think the chances are of
having the specs released? There is also the little question of that closed source program that keeps up the connection.
Any chance of getting hold of the source code? Finally, would it be possible to get write access to your web page
http://linux-usb.sourceforge.net/SpeedTouch/ ?

Ah. The hard questions... The email addresses I have are all from the alcatel era, but I still know a few people over there. I will ask around and let you know. I have no idea about their willingness to release the code and specs now. They weren't prepared to do that 3-4 years ago (the driver was not released for almost a year while I tried to get permission).
If not, I advise you to use the modem_run program from the alternative driver as a basis for a new daemon. It should work well enough.
I will change the permission on the directory and files asap.

J.
