THat's right and the reader works fine at this point.

Are you sure? I think this is USB 2.0 root hub of the motherboard (the
board has 6xUSB). I can't see the readers vendor-id/product-id in the
listing of /proc/bus/usb/devices after loading ehci-hcd.
