This is produced by using an audio usb device, with alsa driving it.
Hm, alsa isn't in the main kernel tree, can you duplicate this with the usb audio driver in the 2.4.21 tree?
How about the alsa usb audio driver in 2.6.0-test1?
One starts playing some music to the usb device, and while it it playing one disconnects the usb cable. It does not happen every time, but enough times to make it annoying. The "Tainted: P" is due to nvidia video card driver nvidia.o.
Can you also duplicate this _without_ the nvidia driver loaded?
thanks,

I really want to keep using alsa, because that is the way forward, and trying to fix the kernel oss driver will not help me in any way.
My current alsa is from the alsa cvs, so it will be the same as in 2.6.0-test1 or newer.
I hope 2.6.0 does not trash my hard disk.
My current kernel dmesg is: -
Uniform Multi-Platform E-IDE driver Revision: 7.00beta4-2.4
ide: Assuming 33MHz system bus speed for PIO modes; override with idebus=xx
PIIX4: IDE controller at PCI slot 00:07.1
PIIX4: chipset revision 1
PIIX4: not 100% native mode: will probe irqs later
Is this IDE hardware stable in 2.6.0test1 ?
I expect it will be some time before I get another oops, but when I do, I will report it.
Cheers James
