I'm forwarding some posts from a discussion on [EMAIL PROTECTED] A USB UPS isn't being detected when the power comes up until the USB cable is unplugged/replugged.
Any idea why this might be? Any way to fix it? (Good stuff!) However, the USB device isn't detected after power-up until I manually unplug and replug the USB cable. This is a problem, and I was wondering if anyone here knew how to fix it. Notes: 1. It's not a modules problem. I'm loading all the correct modules at boot time - doesn't help. (usbcore, usb-uhci, hid) Unloading and reloading the modules doesn't help. After unplugging and replugging the USB cable (which makes things work), lsmod reports no new modules loaded. 2. The UPS initially does not show up in /proc/bus/usb/devices and 'upsdrvctl start' reports "No such device". After unplugging and replugging the USB cable, it does show up, and upsdrvctl works. 3. I'm using 2.4.18-27.7.x on an RH7.2 box with a CUBX-E motherboard, plugging into the onboard USB controller. Thoughts? It almost seems like the hardware doesn't think there's anything connected to it until I unplug/replug. Anything I can do software-wise to force it to check? Anything else I should try/think of?
