That looks sane.

What happens if you press the sync button on your Clie and then run:
        pilot-xfer -p /dev/ttyUSB1 -l
on the console?

Oh, exactly what version of the Palm OS does your Clie have?  The kernel
driver thinks it is a 4.x os, but maybe I got that wrong.
