If I try to use the webcam with OHCI, then I can get a few pictures,

it has been fixed. Is it possible to run PWC with USB-OHCI?

It ought to be. None of the OHCI tweaks that I know of, and which aren't in the standard 2.4 kernels, really affected ISO. (Except if they affected pretty much everything -- like some of the races that affected unlinking with irq latencies over than 1msec.)

There have been reports of pwc bugs in the past few months, I don't
know that they've been resolved yet.

I have also tried to detect the camera using only the kernel module
EHCI-HCD. However the modules does not detect my camera (details
below). Is it possible to run PWC with EHCI-HCD? Is there a trick?

The trick would be "implement split ISO support"; then you'd be running it through a high speed USB hub. :)

If you were keen on that, I have some patches that provide much
of the split transaction scheduling support.

I have been trying hard to find an UHCI card, but it looks like
everything is OHCI or EHCI these days. Are UHCI cards still available?

I could really use some advice on where I should go from here.

Find people who use PWC, and see what the story is with those fixes. UHCI cards are available, they tend to have VIA chips on them; avoid VT-6202, but the VT-6212 (newer and likely not as available) is likely ok. As a rule I'd expect more problems with UHCI than with what you have now.
