Hey, I feel like a jerk asking the list this question, but I have looked high and low, and found little or nothing.
I have a device that is getting a bad idVendor and idProduct in Linux, but not in windows.* I think that sniffing the USB connection would help me figure it out, but after 30 google searches, all I find is "snoopy pro for windows" and "that was implemented in the Linux USB stack long ago". I find that encouraging, except no one explains what 'that' is, or how to use 'that'. That being said, is there a FAQ on how to sniff USB comminucations? Is there some prahse or name for that ability I should be googleing for? Is sniffing USB modeled after sniffing, say ethernet, so If i look up one, I will get at least a rough idea of how sniffing ethernet works? Thanks for any help you guys can give me. Like I said, I feel like a n00b asking dumb questions, but I'm out of rope. -Jonathan McKamey P.S. I never know if I should post to "user" or "developer" lists. Sorry if this is an inapproprate question for this list. *In order to check out this problem, I wanted to check out how Linux connected to, and enumerated devices on hot-plugging, and on startup. I've checked /var/log/messages, and I have mess with /proc/bus/usb/devices, and am not getting the info I need. ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe, use the last form field at: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/linux-usb-devel
