Some other points that I don't remember if I told you: in my old notebook, I can plug the drive and unplug it as many times as I please and it is always recognized. With my desktop, the situation is quite a bit different: in those rare circumstances when it does get recognized, if I unplug the drive and plug it again, it doesn't work this second time (well, as least in the circumstances when I tested). Anyway, I have a few other USB devices: a HP printer and a Gateway keyboard+USB mouse. If I understand it correctly, the keyboard should have an internal hub also, since the mouse can be plugged directly into the keyboard. Would it help if you saw the behaviour that I get when I plug these other devices? BTW, just as a diagnostic, I'm writing this message using the USB keyboard (but not with the USB Mouse plugged). I can provide you with all the necessary dumps, if they would help you to chase where the bug is. > Did you say that it works under Windows? And if so, which version of > Windows are you using? Well, I tested the drive with Windows 2000 and it seemed to work well. I don't use Windows frequently, basically because I don't understand it very well and don't know exactly where I could find logs of the system. Do you know where logs can be found? This way, we should have some further information on the problem. > Alan Stern Thank you very much for your help so far, Rogrio. -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Rogrio Brito - [EMAIL PROTECTED] - http://www.ime.usp.br/~rbrito =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: IBM Linux Tutorials.
