I assume you're referring to the blurb on http://www.netchip.com/products/expresscard.htm? The part there about the NET2280 is really just illustrating using the NET2280 to convert an existing cardbus ASIC to a USB 2.0 express card (in the context of WiFi devices, etc.)
Unfortunately we don't offer a cardbus equivalent of an Evelyn board, which is what I think you're hoping for. As a USB developer, I wouldn't mind having one myself to take my work on the road, but frankly there's not much demand for such a device.
Sorry for the confusion...
Interesting idea on the "laptop as a PDA" thing though.
