Hi,

Sorry if the problem has been known.

I tested with several kernel, 2.6.1-mm4, 2.6.2-rc1-mm1 and 2.6.2-rc2 wiht the same
behaviour.

I got two box, the first box doesn't have this problem, the second one has
.

Step to produce:

Boot the machine, login, plug the usb-storage device, and run modporbe

modprobe usb-storage
modprobe sg
modprobe uhci-hcd

now I can mount /dev/sda1 /usb as normal

Unmount the mount point and remove the device, system is still normal
Plug the device in, the system freeze (at the text console can not type any command
the box doesn't reply to ping, no any error message found in the log)

But if after removing the device, I do a

rmmod uhci-hcd

Then plug it in, the system doesn't freeze. Now I do again
modprobe uhci-hcd and mount is as normal

This doesn't happen with kernel 2.4.24 and all 2.4 kernel in this box. I attached
here the dmesg for more information about the hardware.

Best regards,

Steve Kieu
