Have you changed your computer hardware since you last were able to use the camera? A change in the system speed or the USB controller speed would explain your problem.

I tried my old 2.4 kernel and it didn't pick up any of my USB devices either. Nothing about my system, hardware-wise has changed. So I'm quite confused here. It picks up both USB controllers though... which seems like nothing in the hardware is broken... but maybe not.

I'm recompiling my kernel now with usb-storage debugging... any other ideas are appreciated.

OK, well all that verbose debugging didn't actually get verbose, so I'm at a loss as to how to troubleshoot this.

Could it be a hotplug problem? I know have a newer hotplug that I did last time I used my camera. When I stop and start hotplug the last things in my log are:

Feb 1 21:10:29 rider kernel: drivers/usb/host/uhci-hcd.c: c400: suspend_hc
Feb 1 21:10:29 rider kernel: drivers/usb/host/uhci-hcd.c: c800: suspend_hc

Which doesn't seem correct. But again, I'm new to all of this.
