Have you changed your computer hardware since you last were able to use the camera? A change in the system speed or the USB controller speed would explain your problem.
I just upgraded to 2.6.2 and the timeout problem has gone away. However, in my debug messages (I turned on USB verbose debugging), I still get:
Feb 4 10:12:08 rider kernel: drivers/usb/host/uhci-hcd.c: c400: suspend_hc Feb 4 10:12:09 rider kernel: drivers/usb/host/uhci-hcd.c: c800: suspend_hc
And it still doesn't seem to notice me attaching USB devices.
I've been poking and prodding for a few days now and I'm not quite sure how to debug this issue....
