Seems odd that controllers in a machine that's done nothing but sit on
a desk would just go dead. Yet be recognized by the controller driver.

I've been racking my brain for a good way to test this.... Hmmm... I
just thought of one. I'm at work now, but I'll test tonight and get
back to you.
