When I plug in my USB device the hotplug script is called without the needed parameters:

Feb 24 09:25:32 snoopy /etc/hotplug/usb.agent: Bad USB agent invocation
[added by me]:
Feb 24 09:25:32 snoopy /etc/hotplug/usb.agent: PRODUCT=
Feb 24 09:25:32 snoopy /etc/hotplug/usb.agent: ACTION=add
Feb 24 09:25:32 snoopy /etc/hotplug/usb.agent: DEVICE=

However, when I boot the machine everything is fine. The script is called with the right values filled in. When I run the kernel with the premptive flag switched on I never get values filled in. When I run the kernel not with the premptive scheduler there are some chances to get values into the variables. Thus, I have to plug in and out the device a few times.

I'm using the hotplug script which is shipped with Debian woody. It works well with 2.4.x.
