OK will try. There seems no way to get this chipset working here. I also  
changed the dvd-burner against an old ide of 500MB for testing. Then
the chip is identified as 5e3;702 instead 5e3;701, as opposed, but it is  
not predictable what happens.

sometimes a dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdc BS=1M count=500

works, also 2 times after another, than the drive blocks again.

Here not so much, about 6 EUR the controller and about 15 EUR the case,  
compared to USB 2.0.
