FYI, there's a "public domain kit" (which is not actually public-domain,
but close: MIT/X11-style license):

Somewhere under "general/USB_Linux" is some code for "General 1-Wire
link layer for the DS2490 on Linux".  It's libusb-based, and may be
for a different device, but it might be useful to you.
