Next, does anyone have ideas why an Edgeport/4 using the io_ti driver does not work with 2.4.26 untill I unplug the box and plug it in again? Same ohci hardware.
One other thing to check--the Edgeport 4 is actually 2 2 port devices behind an embedded hub. Sometimes those 2 devices get enumerated in a different order on boot than on unplug/replug and the /dev/ttyUSBXX devices get assigned differently. Check to see if the first port on the Edgeport shows up the first time as /dev/ttyUSB2 rather than /dev/ttyUSB0--then after unplug/replug the first port comes back as /dev/ttyUSB0. That may be the problem you are seeing.
The files at www.brimson.com have a usbserial that allows you to explicitly assign the /dev/ttyUSBXX files to devices to work around this.
