I needed to recompiling a kernel to enable firewire support of which the stock kernel does not have. I chose kernel 2.6.7 and have gotten everything working except for a bug that I've noticed with the USB scanner as all sorts of people have been having problems with their scanners being recognized with this new libusbscanner device as they "scanner.o" module has apparently/ unfortunately been deprecated as of now. If someone can provide me a patch for this kernel or some work around for me to get this working I would be thrilled, otherwise this is quite a problem.
