I have not ported old HCD to 2.6.8. I must run it on 2.6.0. Using old HCD/2.6.0, free memory never drops below 2M when looping and writing 1M files to usbdrive. If I umount between each write, free memory hovers around 7M (similar to 2.6.8/new HCD).
