This is a Dell Precision 650 running linux-2.4.28-pre3. It's got the usb-uhci and echi-hcd modules loaded.
I've got a new error code showing up with this USB2 hub. On insertion, I get:
Oct 13 15:35:55 tbolt kernel: hub.c: new USB device 00:1d.7-5, assigned address 2
Oct 13 15:35:55 tbolt kernel: usb.c: USB device not accepting new address=2 (error=-71)
Oct 13 15:35:56 tbolt kernel: hub.c: new USB device 00:1d.7-5, assigned address 3
Oct 13 15:35:56 tbolt kernel: usb.c: USB device not accepting new address=3 (error=-71)
I have not been able to find any historic record of error=-71 in the lists anywhere.
Can anyone point me in a general direction for further investigation?
Did you have this same problem in 2.4.27, or is it new with 2.4.28?
You can probably get more information if you turn on the USB debugging option in the kernel configuration. Better yet, try running 2.6.

I'll turn on ehci verbose debugging and set what happens...
