Hi,
I've booted 2.6.9-final on this machine and tried
using the PL2303 again. I'm happy to report that the
oops is now gone:
...
usb 5-5.4: new full speed USB device using address 3
drivers/usb/serial/usb-serial.c: USB Serial support
registered for Generic
usbcore: registered new driver usbserial_generic
usbcore: registered new driver usbserial

drivers/usb/serial/usb-serial.c: USB Serial support
registered for PL-2303
pl2303 5-5.4:1.0: PL-2303 converter detected
usb 5-5.4: PL-2303 converter now attached to ttyUSB0
usbcore: registered new driver pl2303
drivers/usb/serial/pl2303.c: Prolific PL2303 USB to
serial adaptor driver v0.11
PL-2303 ttyUSB0: pl2303_open - failed submitting
interrupt urb, error -28
PL-2303 ttyUSB0: PL-2303 converter now disconnected
from ttyUSB0
usb 5-5.4: USB disconnect, address 3
pl2303 5-5.4:1.0: device disconnected
The device itself still didn't work, of course. I'm
putting this error down to the fact that I was
repeating the test with the USB 2.0 hub.
I also tried connecting the PL2303 without the USB 2.0
hub, but was still unable to get the serial console to
appear on /dev/ttyUSB0. (My other serial consoles
which use null-modem cables are all fine.) Is this a
feature of the PL2303, or a maybe a missing feature in
the driver?
Cheers,
Chris
