I was able to get this patch working against the 2.6.9-rc4-mm1 kernel, but I had similar results as before. I first tried with the ehci module loaded, but the iPod did not connect. I then removed the ehci module and the iPod connected and I was able to mount it -- and I was able to transfer data for about 10 minutes before getting errors. I started by copying a large file to the iPod and it progressed without errors (although it was too large of a file for the slow USB connection so I stopped it after a little while), then I was able to put some new songs on my iPod. I get the feeling that something else is causing the errors to happen rather than some kind of usb-storage bug or disk corruption, but I couldn't guess what. The iPod does remain mounted and I was able to unmount and eject it.
If there is anything else I can try, let me know. I may trying to keep the iPod connected for shorter periods of time and do a few transfers each time. If I can do that reliably, that should rule out any problems with usb-storage or disk corruption, right?
