I'm using "more /var/log/messages" - would this show all kernel messages?

I'd like to get familiar with the USB on linux and thought that using usb-
skeleton and playing around with memory stick would be a good start. However
I don't understand why USB subsystem on linux calls the probe function for
digital camera when it's plugged in, but does not do the same when memory
stick is plugged in. As I said earlier I verified that Vendor/Product ids
are correct for memory stick.

Your help would be much appreciated.
