We are currently designing the Philips ISP1161 USB chip onto our
boards.
The intention is to use Linux 2.6 on a ppc 85xx - we already have
U-boot
running :)

However, we are concerned at about the stability of the ISP1161
driver.

Currently, the 116x driver does not yet work for me. There seem to be weird timing problems which lead to failures of the attached usb devices' configuration process every now and then. In the near future, the iso transfers won't be supported (at least I am not working on this).

Does anyone have any thoughts on this ?
Or could you recommend an alternative chip which has a more
stable driver.

The ohci driver is well tested and a real ohci chip would perform far better than the isp116x chip.

Olav
