The hub worked just fine. That HID device is the problem, and it's probably one you can just ignore. (Unless you want to write a driver for it ... monitor control class?)

Thanks for the clarification! I didn't know that the USB connection was actually used for anything. I imagine if I had it hooked up to an Apple I could change the brightness from the host.


I will follow Alan's advice and get some debug from the driver to see if the hang can be eliminated.
