Hello!
Just installed Debian Sarge with the new installer (and changed to kernel 2.6) on my newly bought wintendo workstation to check out how smooth everything works on new PC's nowadays. Seems though the usb devices I have are not all listed in the id databases yet. I found http://www.linux-usb.org/usb.ids which seemed fairly official (does this list get automatically included with the kernel or should I submit a patch for unusual_devs.h?) and had your name/address in it so here's my lsusb output. :)
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ lsusb Bus 003 Device 005: ID 059b:1052 Iomega Corp. Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 Bus 002 Device 003: ID 045e:0040 Microsoft Corp. Wheel Mouse Optical Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 Bus 001 Device 002: ID 132b:0015 Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
I currently have this hooked up on usb:
Microsoft (Black) Wheel Mouse Optical No problem there. Works fine and is listed in usb.ids.
Iomega SuperDVD DVD+ReWritable It looks like this one, http://www.iomega-europe.com/eu/Products.aspx?productId=SuperDVD16xDual, but mine is only 4x and not dual layer (AFAIK).
Seems to work (autoidentified by the installer, haven't tried to write and cd/dvd's though). Only manufacturer listed in usb.ids.
Konica Minolta DiMAGE G530 Doesn't work (out of the box anyway). Not listed at all in usb.ids. This device works with windows xp out of the box. I guess it uses some kind of generic storage driver (usb-storage?). (I've never used usb until now so I'm just guessing here).
I hope this is all the information you need (drop me a mail otherwise and I'll try to get you whatever you need). I'll look into how to get the camera working now.... I guess it's only a matter of adding the ids at the right place. A quick google showed howto's that said I should edit unusual_devs.h ... Guess I'll start there if 2.6.10 doesn't work by itself (Debian Sarge's 2.6 is 2.6.8.1 AFAIK).
By the way, are there any equivalent of update-pciids for lsusb?
Regards, Andreas Henriksson
